Maternity Reflexology - a treatment to use during pregnancy, labour and after the birth

During pregnancy Reflexology at this special time can be very beneficial alongside conventional antenatal care and can greatly enhance the experience of waiting for your baby’s birth. Care and precautions are of course necessary and on some occasions treatments might even be inappropriate. However, often,comfort and well-being can be promoted through a course of reflexology treatments performed by a qualified therapist who has received specialist training:

Labour
Treatments during the ante-natal period can play an important part in preparing the body for delivery and therefore reduce the risk of medical intervention. Specific techniques can also be applied during labour itself to ease discomfort and help progress. If the mother wishes to receive Reflexology during labour, it will always be under the supervision of the midwife or doctor and will only be applied if it is medically safe to do so.

A word about labour induction:
Please note that induction techniques are never routinely performed on pregnant clients. Only if an existing client has passed her due date, if it is appropriate and with full medical consent, induction techniques might be offered. Under no circumstances will the therapist accept to perform induction techniques during a client’s first visit.

After the birth
Treatments may be beneficial once your baby has arrived too, provoding a natural aid to the process of recovery from the birth and the various changes the body passes through during that period. The relaxing effect of the Reflexology treatment will in turn impact positively on the breast feeding process.

PRICES

Treatments paid individually: First visit £35.00 ~ Following visit £30.00
Special rates will be negociated for clients undergoing regular treatment through the length of the pregnancy.

Special Maternity Reflexology offers:

Course of 3 treatments in a short term period (recommended to control a pregnancy specific discomfort) £80.00

Course of 5 treatments during the last 4 weeks of the pregnancy (recommended in preparation of labour) £120.00

Course of 8 treatments during the last 6 weeks of pregnancy (highly recommended in preparation of labour) £190.00

The above offers are all payable in advance. Treatments are transferable to the postnatal period if necessary, in which case they must be used within 6 months.

NB: Please note that Maternity Reflexology is not a substitute to conventional ante or postnatal care and the practitioner will not accept to treat a client who is not under a qualified midwife or doctor’s care during that time. Clients are advised to inform their midwife or doctor if they choose to receive Reflexology and on some occasions, the practitioner might have to liaise with them in order to ensure the client’s safety and offer the most appropriate treatment.
